Its what search topics are becoming more popular that day. If searches for Justin Bieber jumped 1500% because of something that happened in the news today, then that would be a trending topic.

Companies tend to manipulate statistics for advertisement purposes; or perhaps to make its sponsors or anybody that they want to support look hot and in.

Yes they do, they think Everyone is interested in whose on Twitter and what is going on with them. It’s ridiculous.
